High School Program

Our high school program produces 2 mainstage productions each season (a fall play and spring musical) as well as 3 performances connected to our classes and a catered musical theater cabaret for the community.

Our Productions

Fall Play

The Actor’s Role in Contemporary American Theater

This class seeks to not only teach essential acting skills that can be applied in any theatrical situation, but to also immerse students in the world of contemporary theater and the process through which plays are created and produced.  This class culminates in the workshop of a new play with a professional playwright.

Spring Musical

Masquerade

Building on the work of the previous year, this course seeks to arm student with the tools necessary to create and produce their own work.  Students form a theater company and devise a new piece that they produce in the spring.

Shakespeare’s Super Dead

Shakespeare’s Super Dead

Students use the works of William Shakespeare and their modern adaptations to interrogate the world they’ve inherited and to practice forging the world they want to live in. This class culminates in the creation of a one-hour touring version of a piece that students bring directly to the members of their local community–in schools, at parks, maybe even a Starbucks.

Masquerade

Props and Performing Objects

Students combine their love of theater and visual arts, gaining hands-on experience in creating a wide range of props while engaging in innovative problem-solving.
